With up to 1.3TB of compressed capacity S-AIT1 is ideal for automation solutions
requiring massive capacities and high performance.
Massive storage capacity of up to 1.3TB compressed (500GB native).
Fast 30MB/sec native transfer rate provided by Helical Scanning System.
High-density recording and reliability with AME (Advanced Metal Evaporated) tape.
Innovative cartridge mechanism improves loading/unloading of tape.
Available in Write-Once Read-Many (WORM) format to protect valuable data against
accidental erasure and prevent alteration of archived data files.
Cleaning Tape: SAIT1-CL
DLTtape VS1
Developed by Quantum the DLT VS1 tape holds natively 160GB of data. The DLT VS range
was designed to be the entry level technology for the more expensive DLT tape technology.
Sony AIT tape
Developed by Sony the AIT tape was based upon 8mm helical scan technology and was
available in a wide variety of AIT tape formats culminating with AIT-5 which had
a native capacity of 400GB and 1040GB compressed.
The SuperDLT 1 tape had a native capacity of 110GB whilst the future generation Super
DLTtape 2 held 160GB of data,
Exabyte Mammoth M2 tape
The Exabyte 8mm tape technology again is based on helical scan recording and jointly
developed with Sony. The M2 version held 60GB natively and was launched in 1996.
Exabyte VXA tape
Ecrix originally setup by ex-Exabyte engineers developed the VXA tape to be a low
cost competitor to Exabyte. In all 5 version were developed starting with VXA-1
holding 33GB native rising to the final incarnation VXA-5 holding 640GB native. Eventually
Exabyte purchased Ecrix.
DLT tape
Originally called CompacTape and developed by DEC in 1984. The DLT line was sold
off to Quantum in 1994 who continued to develop and invest in newer high capacity
versions. In the end the LTO consortium won out and with that the last SDLT-600
model was released. Some months after the SDLT-600 Quantum purchased Seagate’s stake
in the LTO consortium and continues to make and develop LTO drives.
5.25” Magneto-Optical Disc of 650MB. Rewritable. Designed for long term archiving
of information (50+ years) the magneto optical disc used phased change technology
to change the magnetic polarity of the media using a very strong magnetic field.
Other storage technologies
Whilst is is difficult to list all storage technologies if you call us we will endeavour
to source the media you require.
Some that we missed, DC2000, DC-300A, DC-600A, 1/2” tape, 3480, Travan, 3.5” MO,
12” WORM, DC-2000XL, 1/4” tapes, 3592, SD-3, SLR, Ampex DST, 3590, T10000.
